The VIVACE project promotes languages and language learning to disadvantaged, marginalised and reluctant groups, working in close collaboration with those agencies and organisations which support them. The project will build on the success of ALLEGRO in bringing language learning and cultural experiences to marginalised sectors. VIVACE will take these models and good practice to new countries, and blend the expertise of new members with the experience of a core of members of the original project. It will develop some of the key themes of ALLEGRO, both in respect of target learners and methodologies. It will disseminate this work to key stakeholders in the field of social provision and, in cooperation with them, will develop opportunities for replicability and sustainability. Learner-centred approaches will be used, with learners involved in both the choice of language and the approach used. The use of study circles, ICT, music, drama, dance and cookery have all been effective in the ALLEGRO project and these will be developed further.
